Taylor and Serrano set for Showdown in Texas

Undisputed super lightweight champion Katie Taylor (23-1, 6 KOs) steps back into the ring in July for a highly anticipated rematch against unified featherweight queen Amanda Serrano (46-2-1, 30 KOs).

Their fight will be the co-main event to the Jake Paul and Mike Tyson contest on July 20 at the AT&T Stadium in Texas - the home of the Dallas Cowboys.

Taylor and Serrano first clashed in April 2022 in a match billed as the biggest women's fight of all time, and they will renew their rivalry after two years.

They became the first female boxers to headline Madison Square Garden (MSG) and delivered a spectacle that fight fans will not forget for a long time.

The brutal war at MSG won several accolades including Sports Illustrated’s Fight of the Year and The Ring’s Event of the Year for 2022.

Taylor vs Serrano 1: A War for the Ages

Taylor was on the back foot from early on due to Serrano's overwhelming pressure in their first meeting.

She took an orthodox stance and pierced sharp jabs, exploring the best angles for her attack and setting up singles off her step back.

Serrano pressed forward against the champion. She cut off Taylor's angles and delivered heavy combination shots, looking to establish dominance.

She was up against one the greatest boxers of all time, and there was resolve in her eyes. Serrano led the first six rounds and cut Taylor badly, finding joy when she dug her body with brutal liver shots.

However, Taylor began to show signs of life in the latter rounds. The Bray-born fighter used the clinch to temper the onslaught.

She used her feet more, prancing out of dangerous angles and moved her head more to stop taking big hits. Serrano took her foot off the gas, and Taylor took advantage to bring the scoreline closer.

Both women came to the centre of the ring in the final round, swinging vicious shots to close out an unbelievable fight.

The judges scored Taylor the winner by split decision despite many people feeling Serrano won the fight, setting up an epic rematch.

Taylor vs Serrano: A Battle of Styles

Taylor is known for her technical brilliance, footwork and sharp counter-punching. Serrano brings ferocious power and an aggressive, in-your-face style to the ring.

With odds of 1.66, Taylor is favoured by the bookmakers. She is also more used to fighting at light-welterweight, which could hand her the advantage.

The Republic of Ireland fighter is keen on showing that she can still operate at the top level and will be buoyed by her passionate home support.

Irish betting sites will be inundated with fight fans from the Emerald Isle looking to back one of their own to prevail. Betting turnover could be the highest of all time for a women’s fight.

Taylor has made a tremendous impact on women’s boxing, becoming one of the most popular female fighters in the business and creating opportunities for her colleagues.

She garnered amateur medals and rose to undisputed champion at the highest level, headlining massive fights in the United Kingdom and United States.

However, she is facing a warrior who gave her the sternest test of her illustrious career. Serrano has improved massively over the last few years, overcoming early career setbacks.

Her wrestling and mixed martial arts background make her an all-around terrifying prospect. Despite being the less favoured fighter with odds of 2.20, many analysts believe she is the favourite to win.

Serrano's first foray into light-welterweight showed she can handle a bigger frame and will be determined to clinch the victory she believes she deserved.

The Puerto Rican has continued her dominance since the first fight, running through Sarah Mahfoud on her initial return to the featherweight division before becoming the first undisputed champion of the four-belt era from Puerto Rico.

Serrano defended her titles against Heather Hardy and Danila Ramos, claiming unanimous decision victories in both fights.

By contrast, Taylor lost her homecoming bout with Chantelle Cameron in Ireland - her first professional career loss.

She invoked her rematch clause and won the second clash via a majority decision, showing her ability to bounce back from adversity.

While Taylor's resilience is undeniable, Serrano's increased determination makes her a dangerous opponent. On that basis, she is fancied to knock Taylor off her perch.
