Zaur Abdullaev vs. Juan Javier Carrasco Lightweight Eliminator on Sept 6th

RCC Boxing has officially announced via Instagram that IBF No. 6 lightweight Zaur Abdullaev will face off against No. 11 Juan Javier Carrasco in a highly anticipated eliminator match on September 6 in Chelyabinsk.

While this isn't a "final" eliminator, as William Zepeda currently holds the top position with all four sanctioning bodies, the bout will determine the vacant No. 2 spot. This position could potentially lead to the top ranking if Zepeda secures his mandatory title shot with one of the other sanctioning bodies.

Zaur Abdullaev (19-1, 11 KOs), perhaps best known as the last fighter Devin Haney (31-0, 15 KOs) stopped before his current nine-fight decision streak, has steadily climbed back up the ranks with a series of impressive second-tier victories. He enters this match on an eight-fight winning streak, including notable wins over Dejan Zlaticanin, Jorge Linares, Jovanni Straffon, and Roger Gutierrez.

Argentina’s Juan Javier Carrasco (20-1, 12 KOs), who has won 15 consecutive fights since a 2017 loss to journeyman Miguel German Acosta, will be making his debut on foreign soil. Though he has yet to defeat a high-profile opponent, Carrasco's unheralded status makes him a formidable challenger, reflecting the resilience often seen in Argentine fighters.

This eliminator promises to be an exciting clash, with both fighters eager to secure their position and move closer to a world title shot.
