Mikiah Kreps vs Mayerlin Rivas Oct 4th on ESPN

WBA/WBO #5 super bantamweight Mikiah Kreps (8-0, 3 KOs) is set to headline her first hometown event in Niagara Falls on Friday, October 4, where she will face #3 world-ranked and former two-time WBA world champion Mayerlin “La Monita” Rivas (17-5-3, 11 KOs) of Maracaibo, Venezuela. The ten-round main event will take place at the Seneca Niagara Events Center and will be broadcast across Latin America on ESPN Knockout. The event is promoted by Tuto Zabala Jr.’s All Star Boxing, Inc.

Kreps, who is making her fourth appearance at the Seneca venue, is excited about the opportunity. “It feels great to be fighting at home again, but this time with a belt on the line,” said Kreps, who continues to climb the rankings. In her most recent bout, Kreps outpointed Melissa Odessa Parker over eight rounds.

Rivas, a seasoned veteran, is known for her toughness and has claimed two world titles during her career. She first captured the WBA bantamweight title in 2015, defeating Sayda Mosquera in Venezuela. She later secured the WBA super bantamweight title during a WBA KO Drugs festival in 2020, just before the pandemic. Rivas defended the belt multiple times before losing a controversial decision to Erica Cruz in November last year.

The co-main event will feature a local showdown between two of western New York’s top fighters. Buffalo’s Gerfred “The Authentic” Nagyot (7-2, 6 KOs) will go head-to-head with Dunkirk’s Wilfredo “El Bravo Vega” Flores (10-3-1, 5 KOs) in an eight-round lightweight battle. With both fighters having appeared multiple times in this series, a win will give the victor regional bragging rights.
