Paris 2024 has witnessed its first professional fighter emerge as Top Rank officially signs 18-year-old Puerto Rican super flyweight, Juanma Lopez De Jesus.
According to Top Rank's press release, Lopez De Jesus, known as "Juanmita," will make his highly anticipated professional debut in early 2025.
The young fighter is the son of former world champion Juan Manuel Lopez. While Juanmita did not secure a victory at the Paris Olympics, his first-round exit came at the hands of eventual gold medalist Hasanboy Dusmatov. Despite the defeat, Juanmita delivered an impressive performance against one of the sport's elite fighters, signaling a promising future as he transitions into the professional arena.
Reflecting on his new chapter, Juanmita expressed his gratitude: "I thank God and Top Rank for the incredible opportunity to walk this path alongside them, following in my father’s footsteps. This marks the beginning of something truly extraordinary. Thank you, Puerto Rico, for your unwavering support. I am thrilled to embark on this journey filled with passion and dedication. I am ready to give it my all to achieve greatness and create my own story."
As Juanmita steps into the professional ranks, boxing fans eagerly await his next move, confident that he has the potential to carve his own legacy in the sport.
