This Friday, September 27, Top Rank Boxing presents an exciting night of action as Sandy Ryan defends her WBO welterweight world title against former unified champion Mikaela Mayer. The event will be broadcast live at 10:30 p.m. ET/7:30 p.m. PT on ESPN, ESPN Deportes, and ESPN+, from The Theater at Madison Square Garden in New York.
Main Event: Ryan vs. Mayer
Sandy Ryan (7-1-1, 3 KOs), hailing from Derby, England, has quickly established herself as a force in the welterweight division since turning professional in 2021. A former Commonwealth Games gold medalist and World Championship silver medalist, Ryan rebounded from her sole career loss with a decisive win over Erica Farias in 2022. She claimed the vacant WBO welterweight title in April 2023, defeating Marie-Pier Houle. Ryan's most notable victory came with a stunning fourth-round knockout of former two-division world champion Terri Harper, following a controversial draw with Jessica McCaskill.
Mikaela Mayer (19-2, 5 KOs), a 2016 U.S. Olympian and former unified junior lightweight champion, returns to the U.S. after a competitive run in the U.K. Despite a controversial split decision loss to IBF welterweight champion Natasha Jonas in January 2023, Mayer remains determined to become a two-weight world champion. With victories over Jennifer Han and Lucy Wildheart in 2023, Mayer is poised for another shot at glory.
Co-Main Event: Zayas vs. Sosa
In the co-feature, rising junior middleweight sensation Xander Zayas (19-0, 12 KOs) faces off against Damian Sosa (25-2, 12 KOs) in a 10-round clash. Zayas, a New York City fan favorite, boasts an undefeated record at Madison Square Garden and is coming off a dominant victory over former world champion Patrick Teixeira. He continues to build his reputation as one of the sport's brightest young talents.
Sosa, from Tijuana, Mexico, is riding a three-fight win streak and has made his mark in the U.S. with notable victories, including a recent upset of undefeated prospect Marques Valle. With a strong record and momentum on his side, Sosa is ready to challenge Zayas in what promises to be an explosive matchup.
Special Feature: Carrington vs. Segawa
Featherweight standout Bruce "Shu Shu" Carrington (12-0, 8 KOs) will battle veteran Sulaiman Segawa (17-4-1, 6 KOs) in a 10-round special feature bout. Carrington has electrified Madison Square Garden with five knockout wins in the venue, including a stunning finish of Bernard Torres and a TKO victory over Brayan De Gracia earlier this year. Segawa, a tough competitor from Uganda, has fought many top contenders, with all his losses coming against undefeated opponents.

The undercard kicks off at 6:30 p.m. ET/3:30 p.m. PT on ESPN+ with a series of exciting bouts featuring rising stars and contenders, making this a can't-miss night of boxing at the iconic Madison Square Garden.
