Turki Alalshikh Reveals Ambitious 2025 Boxing Plans for Riyadh Season

Riyadh Season chairman Turki Alalshikh has unveiled an exciting lineup of boxing events for 2025, showcasing his vision to elevate the sport on a global scale. Here’s a breakdown of his ambitious plans:

Shakur Stevenson's 2025 Path

Alalshikh, who co-manages WBC lightweight champion Shakur Stevenson alongside Matchroom Boxing, confirmed Stevenson's roadmap for next year. Stevenson is set to face Floyd Schofield on February 22, with a follow-up clash against William Zepeda. The ultimate goal for 2025 is a blockbuster showdown between Stevenson and Gervonta "Tank" Davis, a fight fans have long been clamoring for.

Fury vs. Klitschko II in the Works?

If Tyson Fury triumphs over Oleksandr Usyk on December 21, Alalshikh hopes to arrange a historic rematch between Fury and Wladimir Klitschko. This fight would give the 48-year-old Klitschko, who retired in 2017, a shot at becoming the oldest heavyweight champion in history, surpassing George Foreman's record.

Ryan Garcia Meeting on the Horizon

Alalshikh plans to meet with Ryan Garcia on December 19 to explore potential collaboration. Garcia, currently serving a one-year suspension, is set to make his return in an exhibition bout on December 30. A Riyadh Season partnership could significantly shape Garcia’s post-suspension career.

Naoya Inoue to Fight in Saudi Arabia

Undisputed super bantamweight champion Naoya Inoue is also part of the Riyadh Season lineup. Alalshikh aims to host an Inoue bout in Saudi Arabia in 2025. For now, Inoue is focused on his title defense scheduled for December 24.

March Event Outside Saudi Arabia

Due to Ramadan, Riyadh Season’s March event will take place abroad. The card is expected to feature an IBF heavyweight eliminator between Martin Bakole and Efe Ajagba.

May Supercard: UK vs. US or Queensberry vs. Matchroom

A major May event is in the works, with two potential themes under consideration. The first option is a "5 vs. 5" rematch between Queensberry Promotions and Matchroom Boxing. The alternative is a "6 vs. 6" UK vs. US card, featuring six British boxers from Matchroom and Queensberry facing off against six American fighters from Top Rank and Golden Boy.

Plans for Africa in 2025 or 2026

Expanding Riyadh Season’s reach, Alalshikh envisions a groundbreaking event in Africa by 2025 or 2026, further solidifying the global presence of Saudi Arabia’s growing influence in boxing.

A Global Vision for Boxing

With a mix of marquee matchups, international events, and collaborations across major promotions, Turki Alalshikh is positioning Riyadh Season as a major player in the boxing world. Fans can expect an electrifying year of fights that promises to deliver unforgettable moments in the ring.
