Oscar Duarte to Face Regis Prograis in Crucial Super Lightweight Showdown on Feb. 15

Oscar “La Migraña” Duarte (28-2-1, 22 KOs) will take on former two-time super lightweight world champion Regis “Rougarou” Prograis (29-3, 24 KOs) in a highly anticipated 12-round super lightweight battle, set for Saturday, February 15. The event, presented in association with Cancun Boxing, will be broadcast globally on DAZN.

Duarte is excited for the opportunity to face Prograis, recognizing the significance of the fight in his career. “Facing Regis Prograis means a lot to me because he’s an established, high-level fighter. If I can win, it would be a huge step forward,” Duarte said. “I know it won’t be easy. Prograis is tough, hits hard, and is looking to bounce back after his recent defeats. I’ll need to be smart and put on a great performance.”

Prograis, eager to return to the ring after some inactivity, is looking forward to the challenge. “I’m just excited to be back doing what I love. At this point in my career, I want to stay active. I know this fight will have fireworks,” he said. “My opponent is strong, tough, and hungry. It’s going to be a great night in California.”

Golden Boy Chairman and CEO Oscar De La Hoya praised both fighters for their exciting styles. “Duarte is one of the most powerful and relentless fighters in boxing, and I expect him to go for the knockout,” De La Hoya said. “But Prograis is a two-time world champion who has faced the best of the best. This is a true crossroads fight, and I expect an absolute war.”

As a gesture of appreciation for first responders, Golden Boy will donate 1,000 tickets to them and their families in light of the recent Los Angeles wildfires, in partnership with 1sttix.org.

Oscar Duarte, a rising star from Parral, Chihuahua, has proven himself as a tough contender in the lightweight division, known for his powerful, relentless fighting style. His only losses came to Adrian Estrella in 2019 (whom he later avenged) and Ryan Garcia in December 2023. Duarte most recently won in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, where he defeated Botirzhon Akhmedov. His career is co-managed by Gabriel Soto and Cancun Boxing.

Regis Prograis, hailing from New Orleans, is a seasoned former world champion with a reputation for knockout power and aggressive boxing. After relocating to Houston post-Hurricane Katrina, Prograis built an impressive amateur career before turning pro in 2012. He captured the WBA super lightweight title in 2019 and the WBC title in 2022. Prograis’s most recent fight was a loss to Jack Catterall in October 2024.

This high-stakes bout promises to deliver a thrilling clash as both fighters look to solidify their place in the super lightweight division.
