Mayer vs. Ryan Rematch Headlines March 29 at Fontainebleau Las Vegas

Mayer and Ryan Set for Title Rematch at Fontainebleau Las Vegas

The rivalry isn’t over, and the paint still isn’t dry.

Two-weight champion Mikaela Mayer will defend her WBO welterweight world title in a highly anticipated rematch against former champion Sandy Ryan on Saturday, March 29, at the Bleaulive Theater in Las Vegas’ Fontainebleau Resort. This follows a heated first encounter in September, where Mayer claimed victory over Ryan via majority decision, but tensions between the two are far from settled.

In the co-feature, Brian Norman Jr. will make the inaugural defense of his WBO welterweight world championship against Puerto Rican challenger Derrieck Cuevas.

Rising featherweight talent Bruce “Shu Shu” Carrington will face Jose Enrique Vivas in a 10-round WBC final eliminator, with the bout serving as the featured contest on the ESPN+-streamed undercard.

Mayer vs. Ryan II, along with Norman vs. Cuevas, will be broadcast live on ESPN, ESPN Deportes, and ESPN+ at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT.

Promoted by Top Rank in association with Matchroom Boxing, tickets for the event go on sale Friday, February 7, at 10 a.m. PT via Fontainebleau Las Vegas.

Fighters Speak Out:

Mikaela Mayer (20-2, 5 KOs) has become a two-division world champion, but she’s not backing down from a rematch with Ryan, knowing the fierce rivalry demands another showdown. "This will be worse for Sandy this time, but expect another action-packed fight," she said.

Sandy Ryan (7-2-1, 3 KOs), who initially captured the WBO welterweight title, seeks redemption after losing to Mayer in a Fight of the Year candidate. “On March 29, the world will see a focused, determined, and talented fighter,” Ryan promised.

Brian Norman Jr. (26-0, 20 KOs) will look to prove himself in his first title defense after capturing the WBO welterweight title. He remains confident heading into his fight against Derrieck Cuevas (27-1-1, 19 KOs), a formidable opponent on a four-fight knockout streak.

Bruce Carrington (14-0, 8 KOs) looks to continue his rise in the featherweight division with a win over Jose Enrique Vivas (23-3, 12 KOs) in their WBC final eliminator bout.

The event promises to be a thrilling night of action, with the spotlight firmly on these fierce competitors.
