Oscar Duarte to Face Miguel Madueño in Explosive Mexico vs. Mexico Showdown

World title contender Oscar “La Migraña” Duarte (28-2-1, 22 KOs) will now face Miguel “El Explosivo” Madueño (31-3, 28 KOs) in a thrilling Mexico vs. Mexico super lightweight battle on Saturday, February 15. Madueño steps in as a late replacement for former two-time super lightweight world champion Regis “Rougarou” Prograis, who suffered a shoulder injury. The event, presented by Cancun Boxing and Camponovo Sports, will be broadcast worldwide on DAZN.

Duarte expressed his disappointment over Prograis’ injury but remains focused on his goal of becoming world champion. “It’s a shame that Regis Prograis was injured. I was excited to fight a former world champion, but despite the change of opponent, my motivation remains the same. I’m training at 100%, and I’m not stopping until I achieve my goal,” said Duarte. “Madueño is a dangerous fighter with a lot of experience. I will fight smart and bring my best performance to win.”

Golden Boy Promotions’ Chairman and CEO Oscar De La Hoya added, “This will be a war inside the ring on February 15. Both Duarte and Madueño are knockout artists, and fans can expect a fight of the year candidate with both fighters having everything to prove.”

Madueño, who accepted the challenge on short notice, is eager to make his mark. “This isn’t an easy fight, but that’s why I do this. I’m not coming to Anaheim just to test my luck—I’m coming to win. Duarte is tough, and I respect him, but I’m hungry to get back in the win column,” said Madueño.

Alex Camponovo, Madueño’s manager, praised his fighter for stepping up. “We are grateful to Golden Boy and DAZN for this incredible opportunity. Miguel has always embraced the toughest challenges, and this fight is no different. Fans can expect a highly explosive showdown,” said Camponovo.

Oscar Duarte, a world title contender from Parral, Chihuahua, is known for his aggressive style and defensive skills. His only losses came against Adrian Estrella in 2019, which he avenged with 11 consecutive knockouts, and Ryan Garcia in December 2023. Duarte’s most recent win came in Saudi Arabia, where he defeated Botirzhon Akhmedov in an impressive performance.

Miguel “El Explosivo” Madueño, hailing from Sinaloa, Mexico, is known for his devastating knockout power, with 28 of his victories coming by stoppage. Although he suffered a loss to Keyshawn Davis in 2024, Madueño remains determined to keep climbing in the sport. His knockout ratio exceeds 80%, making him a dangerous opponent in the ring.

Both fighters are set to bring the heat on February 15, and fans at the Honda Center and watching on DAZN can expect a fiery encounter between two Mexican warriors.
