Williams vs. Volny March 15 Featuring Edgar Berlanga vs. Jonathan Gonzalez in Co-Feature

Matchroom has announced a Friday night card set for March 15th in Orlando, headlined by rising middleweight contender Austin “Ammo” Williams taking on Patrice Volny. Williams (17-1, 12 KO) looks to rebound after his setback against Hamzah Sheeraz last year but will have his hands full with Volny (19-1, 13 KO). The Canadian’s only loss was a 2021 technical decision to Esquiva Falcao, and he’s since notched consecutive knockouts over DeAndre Ware and Steven Butler, proving he’s a serious threat.

In the co-feature, super middleweight Edgar Berlanga (22-1, 17 KO) returns for the first time since his loss to Canelo Alvarez last September. Berlanga’s opponent is Jonathan Gonzalez-Ortiz (20-0-1, 16 KO), who began his career as a promising amateur in the early 2010s, then stepped away from the sport in 2014. After a decade-long hiatus, he came back last year with two wins at middleweight and now steps up to face Berlanga.

Despite the defeat on his record, Berlanga remains ranked highly across multiple sanctioning bodies—No. 3 with the WBO, No. 6 with the WBC, and No. 4 with the WBA—keeping him in the mix for future major fights. The March 15th event offers both Williams and Berlanga opportunities to move forward in their respective divisions.
