Erickson Lubin and Ardreal Holmes Jr are set to clash for a shot at the IBF super welterweight title in just two months. ProBox TV, which secured the rights through a January purse bid, has scheduled their eliminator bout for May 10th in Kissimmee, Florida. The winner will become the mandatory challenger for Bakhram Murtazaliev, who claimed the belt by stopping Jack Culcay last year before demolishing Tim Tszyu in his first defense.
It’s unfortunate that ProBox moved away from its usual Wednesday slot, as the date now overlaps with the Emanuel Navarrete vs Charly Suarez matchup airing on ESPN.
For Holmes (17-0, 6 KO)—a towering presence and longtime ShoBox competitor—this is his first major test, though he may be catching Lubin (26-2, 18 KO) at an opportune moment. Holmes, nicknamed “Bossman,” has strung together three victories since Lubin eked out a contentious decision over Jesus Ramos, and by fight night, Lubin will have been inactive for over 19 months.
The undercard will feature undefeated light heavyweight Najee Lopez (13-0, 10 KO) and Tokyo Olympian Darrelle Valsaint (12-0, 10 KO).
