Broad Street Brawl Set to Electrify NYC on May 29, Headlined by Michael Carter-Williams' Boxing Debut

Uprising Promotions makes its highly anticipated return to the ring on Thursday, May 29, with Broad Street Brawl taking center stage at the Léman Ballroom in New York City. The unique, action-packed event will blend high-energy boxing with live entertainment, all in support of a powerful cause.

Headlining the evening is the amateur boxing debut of former NBA Rookie of the Year Michael Carter-Williams, who brings his elite athleticism from the hardwood to the squared circle. In addition to the exciting in-ring action, the show will feature a live performance by rising hip-hop artist Yung Wylin', adding a festival-like energy to the night.

Proceeds from Broad Street Brawl will benefit Bigvision Community, a nonprofit organization that provides a vital support network for young adults in recovery from substance abuse.

“We’ve had incredible support for this event,” said Ronson Frank, President of Uprising Promotions. “Bigvision is doing life-changing work, and we’re proud to partner with them. Michael Carter-Williams: From the NBA to the Ring

A standout at Syracuse University and the 11th overall pick in the 2013 NBA Draft, Carter-Williams burst onto the professional basketball scene with the Philadelphia 76ers. He captured the 2013–14 NBA Rookie of the Year award after averaging 16.7 points, 6.3 assists, and 6.2 rebounds per game. His NBA debut was one for the record books, nearly posting a quadruple-double against the Miami Heat with 22 points, 12 assists, nine steals, and seven rebounds.

Now, after a 10-year NBA career and successful business ventures — including work as a college basketball analyst for ESPN — Carter-Williams is stepping into a new challenge: boxing. His debut will serve as the evening’s main event.

“I’ve always had a competitive drive, and boxing has given me a new focus,” said Carter-Williams. “I’ve been training hard, and I’m excited to test myself in this new arena. May 29 is going to be something special.”
