Veteran fighter and Millville, N.J. native Thomas “Cornflake” LaManna held a media workout on Wednesday at his P4P Boxing & Fitness gym in Atco, N.J., as he gears up to face undefeated two-division world champion Jermall Charlo. The pair will meet in a 10-round super middleweight showdown, co-headlining PBC Championship Boxing on Prime Video, Saturday, May 31, live from the Michelob ULTRA Arena at Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas.
Currently riding a nine-fight win streak, LaManna is aiming for the biggest victory of his career in this pivotal matchup. The four-fight card begins at 8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT and also features Interim WBA Super Middleweight Champion Caleb Plant defending his title against Mexican powerhouse Armando Reséndiz.
Tickets for the event are available now via AXS.com.
Here’s what LaManna had to say during Wednesday’s media session:
“I’m ready to go. We had a solid camp, stayed smart, and focused on the right game plan. I got the proper sparring and tactics in. I feel strong at 168 pounds—no need to cut weight, and that’s given me more energy.”
“I respect Charlo’s openness about his mental health—it’s something real. But inside the ring, none of that matters. We’re both there to fight.”
“The Lara fight taught me a lot. I let the moment overwhelm me, and that can’t happen again. If I stay locked in throughout fight week, it’s going to be a tough night for Charlo.”
“After that loss, I almost walked away from boxing. But coming back with a new mindset, I knew I had to do it right this time. This fight is my opportunity on the biggest stage.”
“I’m not looking past Charlo—I’m focused on May 31. But when I win, I want everything. I want the biggest names and biggest fights.”
“I’ve got the momentum right now. But we’ll see what happens once that bell rings.”
