Sergio Mora combinations and strong boxing skills was enough to stop Shibata Flores after the seventh round. Mora was impressive all night with his speed and multiple combinations that caused swelling over Flores' eyes. The 30-year-old Mora won his first fight at middleweight since losing a February split decision to Brian Vera.
In a clash of former “Contender” fighters, Brian Vera (18-5, 11 KOs) won a ten round split decision over former WBC junior middleweight champion Sergio Mora (22-2, 6 KOs) on Friday night at the Convention Center in Fort Worth, Texas. Vera was the aggressor and applied pressure throughout while Mora showcased his defensive skills mixed in with flurries. Mora came on late and both were bloodied at the end. Scores were 96-94, 96-94 Vera, 96-94 Mora. This isn’t the first time Vera has played the role of spoiler. He previously handed Andy Lee his only loss.
