    • Kim Clavel is seizing a second opportunity to claim the unified junior flyweight championship. The former WBC titleholder is poised to challenge the reigning IBF and WBO 108-pound champion, Evelin Bermudez, who holds the crown for the second time. This anticipated title clash is scheduled for October 7 at the Place Bell arena in Laval, Quebec City, Canada. The official announcement of this championship bout was made by Yvon Michel’s GYM Promotions on Wednesday. This will mark Kim Clavel's third appearance at the Place Bell venue in an active 2023 campaign. However, her year began with a setback, as she lost her title in a closely contested WBA/WBC unification match against Jessica Nery Plata on January 13, suffering a unanimous decision defeat after ten rounds. Clavel (17-1, 3KOs) rebounded from this loss by securing a ten-round decision victory over Naomi Reyes on May 13 at the same venue. This victory marked Clavel's return to the winning column since her WBC junior flyweight title win on July 29 in Montreal against Yesenia Gomez. Evelin Bermudez (18-1-1, 6KOs) is venturing into the first defense of her second title reign. The 26-year-old fighter from Rosario, Argentina, experienced a brief hiatus from her championship status when she was dethroned by Yokasta Valle on November 26 in Carson, California. Valle's victory led her to become a three-division champion, although she promptly vacated the titles to reclaim her unified IBF/WBO strawweight championship. This left the junior flyweight titles vacant, allowing Bermudez to reclaim her place as champion by securing a ten-round unanimous decision victory over the previously unbeaten Tania Enriquez on March 10 in Buenos Aires. The upcoming bout against Clavel will mark Bermudez's tenth career title fight and her third fight outside of Argentina.
