Raymundo Beltran tested positive for the anabolic steroid stanozolol following his second-round knockout of Takahiro Ao, on May 1st in Las Vegas. His June 27th fight against Humberto Soto has been canceled. The bout was suppose to be the opener to Timothy Bradley vs. Jessie Vargas on HBO.
Beltran now faces a suspension and fine from the Nevada State Athletic Commission. Beltran failed to make the 135lb weight limit for the vacant WBO lightweight title against Ao last month.
"I talked to Ray and he doesn't think he took anything illegal," Cameron Dunkin, Beltran's manager, told ESPN.com. Dunkin also states that someone must've given it to him possibly a member of his training team.
Humberto Soto's promoter, is looking for an opponent to replace Beltran on the card. One possible opponent is Jose Felix Jr. (29-1-1, 24 KOs). This is the 2nd opponent that has been cancelled for Soto.
