Gennady Golovkin scored a somewhat controversial TKO over David Lemieux Saturday night at Madison Square Garden. Golovkin dominates the fight from beginning to end but the controversy came at how Lemieux was stopped.
Lemieux was in trouble for most of the fight. Golovkin landed punch after lunch and comvo after combo. However, Lemieux wasn't that hurt at the time of the stoppage. There was probably no chance of Lemieux winning the fight but the stop was questionable.
Perhaps the referee saved Lemieux from a few more round of taking a beating. It didn't seem like Golovkin had any chance of losing the fight. He established the jab, used good defense, and landed hard punches to batter Lemieux round after round. Golovkin improved to 34-0, 31 KO's.
