Jeff Horn vs. Gary Corcoran "on track" for November

According to a source with knowledge of the situation speaking on condition of anonymity to FightNights.com, Britain’s Gary Corcoran is “on track” to fight WBO welterweight world champion Jeff Horn at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre on November 25th.

As FightNights.com previously reported, two-division world champion Terence Crawford is being considered as an opponent for Horn next spring if he gets by his next fight.

Last week, the Courier Mail reported that Horn’s manager, Glenn Rushton, revealed at a business breakfast that the Australian was going to fight a “6 ft 1 champion English boxer,” which suggested that Bradley Skeete was the opponent. However, his claim was denied by sources close to Horn.

The 5’8 Corcoran, who is ranked No. 11 by the WBO, is coming off a split decision victory over the previously undefeated Larry Ekundayo for the vacant WBO Inter-Continental welterweight title. He dropped down from 154 pounds a year ago after suffering a TKO to former European junior middleweight champion Liam Williams.

Stylistically Corcoran is a tailor-made opponent for Horn. The 26-year-old comes forward and lacks both professional experience and punching power. Skeete, on the other hand, is a slick boxer with good power. Since losing a competitive fight to former world title contender Frankie Gavin, Skeete is 9-0 with 5 KO’s.

Horn won the WBO title by defeating former eight-division world champion Manny Pacquiao in a controversial, but stunning upset in July.
