Undefeated junior lightweight prospect Lamont Roach Jr. will headline for the first time as he defends his WBC Youth super featherweight title against Rey “Flash” Perez in the 10-round main event of a Nov. 30 Golden Boy Boxing on ESPN card at the MGM National Harbor in Maryland.
Roach (15-0, 6 KO’s), 22, of Upper Marlboro, Maryland, who won the National Golden Gloves title in 2013, will fight for the fourth time in 2017 and is coming off a first-round TKO of Dominican journeyman Luis Hinojosa in October.
Roach, who turned pro in 2014, will make his second title defense before a hometown crowd for the first time.
Perez (21-8, 6 KO’s), 27, of the Philippines, has fought notable competition but has lost in each case. He was knocked out by Jessie Magdaleno in February 2016, defeated on points in August 2015 by Chris Avalos, and was outpointed in July 2013 by Andres Gutierrez. He returns to the ring for the first time June when he scored a second-round TKO of the unknown Noel Adelmita in the Philippines.
In the co-main event, Jose "Wonder Boy" Lopez (18-1-1, 13 KO’s) of Carolina, Puerto Rico will take on Miguel "Miguelito" Gonzalez (21-3, 18 KO’s) of Los Mochis, Sinaloa, Mexico in a 10-round bout for the WBO International super featherweight Title.
Also on the card is Manuel "Tino" Avila (22-1, 8 KO’s), who will take on Raul "El Bule" Hidalgo (26-15, 19 KO’s) of Chihuahua, Mexico in a 10-round featherweight event.
