Former welterweight world titlist Danny Garcia will return to the ring following an 11-month layoff to take on former lightweight titleholder Brandon Rios in a Showtime-televised main event on Feb. 17 in Las Vegas, according to ESPN.
Garcia (33-1, 19 KO's), 29, of Philadelphia, suffered the first loss of his professional career in a welterweight world title unification fight with Keith Thurman in March.
Rios (34-3-1, 25 KO's), 31, of Oxnard, knocked out Aaron Herrera with new trainer Ricky Funez on June 11 after taking 19 months off.
However, Rios split with Funez in September, and has since reunited with Robert Garcia, who he left in 2016.
Garcia is a great counter-puncher and Rios loves to come forward and brawl. Stylistically, it could produce a fun, action-packed fight.
