Cesar Juarez Extends Streak With Big Win Over Jorge Sanchez

Junior featherweight contender Cesar Juarez won a 10 round unanimous decision over Jorge Sanchez Saturday night at the Auditorio Municipal in Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico.

Juarez was the aggressor throughout most of the fight, putting Sanchez on the defensive. The awkward Juarez was able to land the more effective and telling blows, but was not able to drop or severely hurt Sanchez.

Scores were 98-92, 99-91, and 100-90 for Juarez, who is from Mexico City and improves to 23-6, 17 knockouts.

The 27-year-old Juarez has won his last three bouts since his fifth round knockout loss to Isaac Dogboe on Jan. 6. Juarez is ranked number six by the IBF, number seven by the WBA, and number eight by the WBO.

Sanchez, from Panama City, Panama, drops to 18-4, 9 KOs. He has lost his last two bouts.

In the co-feature, bantamweight Jose Chirino won an eight round unanimous decision over Israel Rodriguez (11-4, 4 KOs).

All three judges scored the bout 76-75 in favor of Chirino (20-2-2, 9 KOs), who is now unbeaten in his last 16 fights. Chirino is coming off a 9th round knockout victory over Hernan 'Tyson' Marquez on Apr. 21.

Zanfer Promotions promoted the card, which aired live throughout Mexico on Azteca TV.
