Gervonta Davis arrested for disorderly affray in Washington D.C. after getting into a fistfight with another man

Super featherweight world titleholder Gervonta Davis announced on the popular smartphone app Snapchat Thursday that he needed to lose weight, but his activity of choice landed him in jail early Friday morning.

According to the Baltimore Sun, Davis (20-0, 19 KO's), 23, of Baltimore, was apprehended in Washington D.C. after getting into a fistfight with Ricardo Jose Rodriguez, who was also taken into custody.

Both men were charged with disorderly affray.

"The media or someone else will never break me," Davis, who scored a third-round stoppage over Jesus Cuellar in April to claim the WBA's super belt at 130-pounds, said on Snapchat while flipping the bird.

Also, in 2017, the state of Maryland dropped a misdemeanor second-degree assault charge against Davis.

Davis won the IBF super featherweight world title with a seventh-round TKO over current WBO 140-pound titlist Jose Pedraza in January 2017 and made one defense before he was stripped of the title for failing to make weight for his eighth-round knockout over Francisco Fonseca.

Davis, who has fought just once in 2018, is not currently scheduled to return to the ring.
