Pacquiao still a draw, Broner fight trending at over 400,000 PPV buys

It appears Manny Pacquiao is still a pay-per-view draw.

According to the Ring Magazine's Mike Coppinger, Pacquiao's lopsided unanimous decision victory over Adrien Broner last week is tracking north of 400,000 buys.

Pacquiao (61-7-2, 39 KO's), who currently holds a secondary 147-pound world title, had not fought on pay-per-view since November 2016 when he outpointed former titlist Jessie Vargas. That fight maxed out at 300,000 buys, while his two prior pay-per-views against Timothy Bradley and Chris Algieri, respectively, garnered 400,000 buys each.

If the numbers hold up, it would be at least 75,000 buys more than the thrilling Deontay Wilder vs. Tyson Fury heavyweight clash from last month. Both cards cost $74.99 to watch in high-definition.

Pacquiao's last two fights aired on ESPN and ESPN+. He kicked off Top Rank's ESPN deal with a controversial loss to former titleholder Jeff Horn in July 2017, then knocked out Lucas Matthysse last July. He left Top Rank last October to sign with manager Al Haymon, the founder of Premier Boxing Champions, and adviser for Floyd Mayweather. This opens the door for Pacquiao, 40, to fight Mayweather in a possible rematch, or fellow PBC welterweight titleholders Keith Thurman and Shawn Porter.

Moreover, four-division world champion Mikey Garcia has expressed his interest in facing Pacquiao. The unbeaten Garcia (39-0, 30 KO's), will face IBF 147-pound titleholder Errol Spence on March 16 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, on FOX pay-per-view. It is the first pay-per-view event for FOX as part of their new four-year deal with PBC, which was signed last September.
