Mikaela Mayer celebrated her new contract extension with Top Rank by making weight.
The reigning unified junior lightweight champion will defend her crown for the second time on Saturday against Jennifer Han in a Top Rank on ESPN main event at The Hangar in Costa Mesa, California.
The 31-year-old Mayer (16-0, 5 KOs), who came in at 129.8 pounds, won the then-vacant WBO 130-pound title with a 10-round unanimous decision over Ewa Brodnicka in Las Vegas. After defeating Erica Farias in a voluntary defense, the 31-year-old unified two belts with a unanimous decision against Maiva Hamadouche last Nover 5 in Las Vegas. The 38-year-old Han (18-4-1, who was last seen getting beaten by Katie Taylor last September, checked in at a fight ready 128.8 pounds in her bid to become a two-division titlist.
Should Mayer win, it could potentially set up a unification bout against American Alycia Baumgardner (11-1, 7 KOs), 27, who claimed the heralded "green belt," the WBC 130-pound crown in a brutal fourth-round TKO of previously unbeaten champion Terri Harper last November.
