Well, it would seem very unlikely that you will be able to see Tyson Fury’s name on these online gambling sites in the near future after he reiterated that he is retired from professional boxing.
The world heavyweight champion has remained consistent with his stance that he would not be entering a boxing ring again following the sixth-round victory he managed to achieve against Dillian Whyte at Wembley Stadium last month.
He managed to extend his unbeaten record to 33 fights as he retained the WBC title and took to Twitter to continue to reaffirm his position.
Indeed, the 33-year-old will go down as one of the greatest in the modern era and a boxer who will leave a lasting legacy on the sport, but there is a need for the sport to continue to grow and move forward, which is why his future has come back into the discussion.
As he retained his WBC belt, the WBC president - Mauricio Sulaiman - has revealed that the organization would be contacting the boxer about the future and what his and his promoter's future plans are in the coming weeks.
Naturally, there has been a lot of interest in what Fury could potentially do in the future, should he look to make a return to the ring in some capacity. Currently, though, it would seem he is done with professional boxing; much like Kell Brook who has also decided that now is the right time to retire from the squared circle.
Fury, though, appears to have a number of potential options available to him moving forward with a potential return to the WWE known to be something that he appears to be keen on. He wrestled for the promotion in 2019 when he competed against Braun Strowman at the WWE Crown Jewel event that was held in Saudi Arabia.
He has, though, also mentioned that he could look to compete in another type of fight, as he and UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou could look to square up against each other in the ring, although it seems the former boxer would be happy if it were in the cage, too.
There appears to be some intent to make the contest happen between each other, although it is not expected that anything would happen until next year at the earliest. Again, it could be in a UFC octagon, although it is also rather evident that we could still be some way off from a fight actually taking place at the moment.
It would be an extremely exciting fight if it were to get scheduled to happen, although it is impossible to deny that Fury’s “retirement” is certainly boxing’s loss.
Furthermore, for the sport of boxing, it will be interesting to see where the heavyweight division goes now, and who perhaps steps up and fills the void that the Gypsy King has undoubtedly left after deciding to hang up his gloves for good.
