Boston Boxing Promotions has announced that recent world title challenger Jessica Camara (8-3) will return to the ring on Saturday, August 13th at Melrose Memorial Hall in Melrose, Massachusetts to take on Concord, New Hampshire's Kimberly "The Machine" Wabik (4-2-2) in an eight-round lightweight fight. The fight is brought to you in association with DiBella Entertainment.
Camara, who hails from Toronto, Canada, is no stranger to New England having fought for the unified junior welterweight world championship last November in Manchester, New Hampshire losing a close split decision to champion Kail Reis.
Prior to that fight, Camara earned a career best victory with a unanimous decision over former world champion Heather Hardy.
"This is a new chapter in my career having recently signed with Dibella Entertainment," said Camara. "I can't wait to showcase my talents on August 13th"
Wabik is not one to turn down a challenge. In her most recent bout, she challenged International Women's Boxing Hall of Fame Inductee Jaime "The Hurricane" Clampitt in her hometown of Warwick, Rhode Island.
She owns wins over New England women's boxing fighters of note including Fernanda Araujo and Jacqueline Boyle. She trains out of her home gym with coach Eddie Ford who is the half brother of former heavyweight champion John "Quiet Man" Ruiz.
"I'm looking forward to fighting Jessica Camara in my first eight-round fight," said Wabik. "She's a world class competitor and fighting her will only bring out the best in me and make be a better fighter."
