Adrien Broner and Blair Cobbs are locked in for a headline bout set to ignite the ring on Friday, June 7th, courtesy of Don King's promotions, staged at the Seminole Hard Rock in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
The marquee event will showcase Norair Mikaeljan defending his WBC cruiserweight championship against Ryan Rozicki, among other thrilling matchups.
Broner and Cobbs, both seasoned at 34, bring their unique personas to the squared circle. Broner (35-4-1, 24 KO) reemerged last June after a hiatus since early 2021, with just two bouts post his 2019 encounter with Manny Pacquiao.
While Broner, a titleholder across multiple divisions, may have seen his prime days, his allure persists, drawing interest even to events of this scale. Cobbs (16-1-1, 10 KO) promises to amplify the buzz. His last bout dates back to August 2022, a victory over Maurice Hooker following a setback against Alexis Rocha five months earlier.
Mikaeljan (27-2, 12 KO) clinched the vacant WBC belt last November, dispatching Ilunga Junior Makabu in Miami's third round. Since a contentious loss to Mairis Brieidis in 2018, he has strung together four consecutive victories.
Rozicki (20-1, 19 KO) presents a formidable challenge. The 29-year-old Canadian lacks notable triumphs but suffered his lone defeat against heavyweight Oscar Rivas in a late 2021 "bridgerweight" clash in Montreal.
Additionally, the event features Ian Green (18-2, 12 KO) in middleweight action, a favorite of King's stable. Heavyweights Cassius Chaney (23-1, 16 KO) and Michael Hunter (22-1-2, 16 KO) are slated to collide, purportedly contending for an interim WBA title, adding to the heavyweight championship fray.
