Most Valuable Promotions bolstered its roster today by signing unified super bantamweight champion Ellie Scotney, IBF bantamweight champion Shuretta Metcalf, interim WBA featherweight champion Jennifer Miranda, and featherweight Elizabeth Oshoba. All four are set to make appearances on the undercard of the July 11th Katie Taylor vs. Amanda Serrano 3 event.
Scotney (10-0, 0 KO), who currently holds the IBF and WBO 122-pound titles, will aim to unify further by taking on WBC champion Yamileth Mercado (24-3, 5 KO). Mercado, ranked No. 1 at super bantamweight by BoxRec, has not lost since a 2021 decision defeat to Serrano and most recently claimed a decision victory over Ramla Ali.
Metcalf (14-4-1, 2 KO) will square off with promotional veteran Dina Thorslund (23-0, 9 KO), who brings the WBC and WBO bantamweight titles into the ring. Meanwhile, Miranda (12-0, 1 KO) meets Alycia Baumgardner, a clash first announced last week. Also on tap is middleweight Tamm Thibeault (2-0, 1 KO) against Mary Casamassa (6-0, 1 KO) in an eight-round bout featuring three-minute rounds.
It bears repeating that Jake Paul’s involvement has been a substantial boon to women’s boxing. Though he remains a polarizing figure, his efforts have undeniably heightened visibility and opportunities for female fighters.
