Interim WBC Light Heavyweight Champion David “El Monstro” Benavidez and WBA Light Heavyweight Champion David Morrell Jr. kicked off the fight week festivities on Wednesday with a grand arrivals and media workout event. The two unbeaten champions are set to face off this Saturday, February 1, in the headline bout of a PBC Pay-Per-View event on Prime Video at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
The Wednesday event also featured fighters on the stacked pay-per-view card. Among them were WBC Featherweight World Champion Brandon “The Heartbreaker” Figueroa and former unified world champion Stephen Fulton Jr., who will meet in a rematch of one of 2021’s best bouts in the co-main event.
Also featured on the card were Mexican former world champion Isaac “Pitbull” Cruz and contender Angel Fierro, who will clash in an all-Mexican super lightweight battle. Rising star Jesus “Mono” Ramos Jr. will take on former unified champion Jeison Rosario in a 10-round middleweight bout, opening the pay-per-view at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT.
Tickets for the live event are available now through AXS.com.
The PPV will be available on Prime Video in the US, UK, and Canada, without requiring a Prime membership. Fans can also access the telecast through traditional cable and satellite providers, as well as PPV.com.
Here’s what the fighters had to say from MGM Grand on Wednesday:
David Benavidez: “I’ve been working really hard. I told everyone I was going to break David Morrell’s face, and that’s exactly what I plan to do on Saturday. You’re going to see a great fight. I’ve prepared really well. Don’t blink—this fight will end quickly. There’s nothing left to say, David Morrell will see what’s coming. I don’t care what he says, I just hope he’s ready to fight. I’m grateful for all the support from the fans. That’s why I do this, and it’s what’s going to make Saturday night incredible.”
David Morrell Jr.: “I don’t care what he brings to the ring. They call him ‘The Monster,’ but that doesn’t scare me. I have my team behind me and I’m ready. I’m 100% confident. With Ronnie Shields in my corner and the great training camp we had in Texas, I feel great. I’m not concerned with what anyone else is saying. I’m here to knock him out. This is my time, my moment. 2025 is my year. I’m excited for this opportunity—it’s going to open the door for other Cuban fighters to follow.”
Brandon Figueroa: “I’m excited and can’t wait to get my revenge. It’s going to be a fun fight. My preparation was different this time—I feel stronger and sharper. I’m a different fighter at this weight, and everyone will see that on Saturday. I’m here to steal the show. I want to take over boxing and cement my place in history as one of the greats. What happened in the first fight doesn’t matter anymore. I have a new chance on Saturday and I’m going to make the most of it. This card is stacked—it’s top-level boxing all night. Don’t miss it, because I’m coming for the knockout.”
Stephen Fulton Jr.: “Becoming a two-division world champion would mean so much to me and my career. My preparation has been great, and I’m on track to be ready for Saturday. My mindset and body feel different this time, but the result will be the same—I’ll win and leave no doubts. We’re both going to be better, but I feel like I’m the better man overall. I’m more intelligent in the ring and have a better skill set. When I use those things, everything will fall in my favor.”
Isaac Cruz: “I’m thrilled to be back in Las Vegas. This is going to be a memorable fight in Mexican boxing history. I’ve worked hard with my team in Mexico City and I’m at my best for this fight. You’ll see a new and improved version of Isaac ‘Pitbull’ Cruz. I wouldn’t be here without the fans, and I promise I’ll give my best performance on Saturday. We’re ready for an explosive show.”
Angel Fierro: “I’m so excited to be here for this fight on Saturday night. I’m here to prove I’m up to the challenge, and I’m ready to beat ‘Pitbull’ Cruz. I love being the underdog and upsetting the favorite—it’s something I’ve done before and I’m here to do it again. Fans will see a hungry fighter who wants to be a world champion. To be the champion, you have to beat the champion. I’m coming to shine and show I’m the next big thing in boxing. To all the fans, and to ‘Pitbull’ Cruz, get ready—it’s going to be an all-out war.”
Jesus Ramos Jr.: “I’m coming out strong on Saturday. I’m motivated and ready. From now on, my approach is to deliver knockouts—that’s what the fans want, and it’s what I want too. I have to be explosive since I’m opening the show. I’ll set the tone for the rest of the night and make sure we all deliver exciting fights. I’m here to steal the show. I’ve watched Jeison Rosario and studied his style, but on Saturday, I’ll do my job.”
Jeison Rosario: “I’m 100% ready for this fight. I had a great training camp and I’m here to destroy Jesus Ramos. I’m really excited to be on this big stage, and I can feel the energy. I don’t feel pressure—I’m just focused on doing what I came here to do. The fans will see a great fight on Saturday. Ramos says he’s going to knock me out, but I think he’s being too cocky. That’s going to make his fall even harder. I’m a different fighter now, and I’ll be at my best on Saturday.”
