WBC creates solid gold belt for Mayweather-Canelo winner

LAS VEGAS (Sept. 11) - On Saturday, Sept. 14, boxing superstars Floyd Mayweather and Canelo Alvarez will meet at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas to determine who is "THE ONE" live on SHOWTIME PPV® (9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT). Fittingly, the World Boxing Council has created a one of a kind solid gold belt to present to the winner of the biggest boxing event of 2013.

Shown to the media by WBC President Jose Sulaiman for the first time last Tuesday, the green and gold belt, which was designed by a Mexican artisan, measures 1.28 meters in length by 30 centimeters in height and is made of pure gold and Italian leather.  It also includes the Mexico Tourism logo, which will mark the winner as an ambassador of Mexico, not only in Mexico, but throughout the world.

In attendance for the unveiling in Mexico City were some of Mexico's biggest boxing names, including Ultiminio Ramos, Pipino Cuevas, Isaac Bustos, Rafael Limón, Ana María Torres, Daniel Estrada, Yesica Chávez and Adrián Hernández.
