Cotto returns to old form, takes out Rodriguez with 3rd TKO

Miguel Cotto made easy work of Delvin Rodriguez Saturday night at the Amway Center in Orlando. Cotto defeated Rodriguez with a 3rd TKO victory, and for three rounds Cotto gave the fans a glimpse of a style that defined him his entire career. From the opening bell, Cotto took to Rodriguez's body with the infamous left hook. He was aggressive, and his punching power was back as he focused more on landing hurting blows. By the third round, Rodriguez was in defensive mode trying to get away from the aggressive Cotto, who ended up landing a powerful left hook that sent Rodriguez to the canvas. The referee stopped the fight.

"His work ethic in camp was unbelievable." Said to trainer Freddie Roach after the fight. "He made my job easy. I'd like to thank him for listening to me."

Before the fight Roach had said that he wanted to work on bringing back some things that Cotto had gotten away from over the years. For this fight the planned worked. As far as a possible bout with Canelo, Cotto said it's up to Bob Arum. While Cotto remains a free agent, it seems he will be sticking around with Arum for awhile. Arum meanwhile, said that he's interested in matching Cotto against Sergio Martinez early next year.
