Timothy Bradley came out victorious once against as he defied the odds to beat Juan Manuel Marquez by a split decision at the Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas. Score were 115-113, 116-112, and 113-115 in favor of Bradley. Unlike the controversial Pacquiao fight where Bradley clearly had lost the fight, this time his win was justified.
It wasn't a fight of the year candidate, nor was it even remotely close to being a slugfest action packed fight that everyone wanted. It was tactical, defensive, and well thought out. While Bradley clearly had a game plan to stay behind his jab the entire fight, and only engage at certain times, it was Marquez who seemed frustrated and flustered as he tried to find his mark the entire night. When he did land clean hard shots on Bradley, they didn't have the effect that he perhaps thought they would. Scores were closer than most people thought, although there were alot of close rounds that could have been scored either way, especially early on in the fight. Regardless of the scorecards, which have been horrible this year, the right man one the fight.
Bradley improved to 31-0, 12 KO's while Marquez fell to 55-7-1, 40 KO's.
