Leave it to Floyd Mayweather to not only hype is own fights, but to start another one. Mayweather's Instagram and Twitter post of Amir Khan and Adrien Broner took on a life of it's own today as Khan and Broner began to exchange words via Twitter. Mayweather posted a picture of them two underneath him and Maidana, calling on them to fight as his Co-Main event on May 3rd. It didn't take long for the fighter's to start going at it.
"Khan ain't sh*t." Broner tweeted with a picture of him and Khan on a poster swinging punches at each other.
"Broner should keep quiet. Malignaggi beat him but didn't get it. Maidana the fight after destroyed him and I would make him retire." Khan fired back.
The tweets continued with both sides posting pictures of the other getting knocked out and talking smack to each other about what would happen if they got into the ring.
Khan then pointed out that he put a call in and found out that Broner's team didn't want to fight at 147 next. Broner wants his next fight to be at 140. He also said that he was willing and ready to fight Broner as long as it was at 147. Showtime Executive Stephen Espinoza confirmed that Broner was going to fight at 140 next and wasn't interested in fighting at 147. Unless this little spat has changed his mind, it's unlikely we see a Khan-Broner fight on the Mayweather undercard. Too bad.
