The proposed fight between Julio Cesar Chavez Jr and Gennady Golovkin for July 12th at The Forum in Los Angeles, CA is looking to be pushed back to July 19th. Also, there will be a $1 million dollar penalty for either fighter if they come in over the 168 lbs weight limit. Negotiations for the fight are still on going but both sides are confident it will be done by next week. Golovkin is coming up from 160 for the fight and plans to go back down to 160 after fighting Chavez Jr at 168. The penalty is likely to ensure that Chavez Jr makes the weight, and takes it seriously. Golovkin's team made it known that Golovkin has no interest in fighting at 168 just yet but the opportunity to face Chavez Jr was one they didn't want to miss out on even if it meant having to move up for the fight.
