The Ruslan Provodnikov vs Chris Algieri fight last Saturday night at the Barclay’s Center in Brooklyn, NY peaked at 1.1 million viewers on HBO After Dark making it the third highest watched boxing match of the 2014 calendar year across all the networks.
The fight lead in by the replay of Miguel Cotto and Sergio Martinez that was on HBO PPV last weekend. That Cotto-Martinez fight had around 950k viewers. Though HBO’s average is around the 1.1 to 1.4 million range on any given Saturday the numbers are still good for a fight that wasn’t generating that much steam. Also, it was the first time Provodnikov was featured as his own headliner. Provodnikov lost a very close split decision to Algieri.
