Talk of Nonito Donaire vs. Hugo Ruiz in The Works

Nothing confirmed but there is buzz about a fight between Nonito “The Filipino Flash” Donaire (34-3, 22 KOs) vs. Hugo “Cuatito” Ruiz (35-2, 31 KOs). Both camps, Ruiz, represented by Promociones del Pueblo & Sampson Boxing, Donaire, by Top Rank are interested in the match up. The date maybe July 18th.

If Leo Santa Cruz, the current WBC champion, moves up as he stated then the winner of the Donaire vs Ruiz fight could either be the WBC mandatory or could become the WBC 122lb champion.

Quick note how this all breaks down. If Santa Cruz moves up to 126, his WBC super bantamweight title would become vacant. This is a good chance for Donaire to snatch up a title @ 122lbs. Hugo Ruiz is no push over but neither is Donaire. Its a good fight and should be entertaining for the fans.
