Undefeated middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (33-0, 30 KO's) continued to make waves in the boxing world as he extended his knockout streak to 20 straight fights with a knockout by dismantling Willie Monroe Jr (19-2, 6 KO's) in six rounds. Golovkin was able to handle the slick southpaw pretty easily throughout the entire fight as he stalked Monroe down landing thunderous blows again and again. Monroe his the canvas twice in the second round, and was able to finish the round as Golovkin went in for the kill. Monroe seemed to be gaining some steam as the fight continued landing some hard shots on Golovkin, none of which seemed to slow him down. Golovkin's pressure was too much throughout the entire fight, and eventually Monroe was dropped again in the sixth, where he told he referee that he didn't wish to continue.
After the fight Golovkin made it known that he was ready for anyone in the world. When asked about Canelo saying that Golovkin would be a fight that he would like in the future, Golovkin responded simply with, "No future....right now."
