In speaking to Golovkin's Promoter about a possible showdown between Carl Froch and Gennady Golovkin it seems as though the little talks about them facing off this fall has stalled. Eddie Hearn, Froch's promoter, hasn't notified Golovkin's team about what he plans to due next. It appears that Carl Froch will not be facing Gennady Golovkin though. Hearn has said numerous times that he is waiting on Froch to give him an answer. Silence in these type of situations is usually never good so Golovkin's promoter Tom Loeffler says that they will look at other options.
Loeffler hasn't mentioned any back up options. There was interest in making the fight against Andy Lee to unify the titles. They are also interested in the David Lemieux vs Hassan N'Dam winner, a fight that will take place on Fox Sports 2 from Canada this weekend. Their main interest is Miguel Cotto or Canelo Alvarez however it's almost certain they will face off against each other in the fall with Golovkin trying to make a bid at the winner. One thing that was made clear is that Gennady Golovkin will not move up to 168 or down to 154 unless it's for a PPV fight. Golovkin is looking to get back into the ring in September.
