A UK news site posted an interview with Gennady Golovkin that was apparently entirely made up. Golovkin's team came out afterwards saying that Golovkin never did the interview and that it was shame that someone would do that. The "interview" covered a variety of topics ranging from Carl Froch, to Mayweather, Canelo, and talks of how Andre Ward ducked him three times in the professional's and went as far to say that Ward had avoided him in the Olympics took.
“These are not my words in this interview,” said Golovkin.
“It’s unfortunate that this interview was posted online and considered by many to be Gennady’s quotes, none of which are his statements,” added Tom Loeffler of K2 Promotions. “We are currently conducting negotiations for Gennady’s next fight and will not be commentating on any speculation about opponents. We understand the extraordinary interest worldwide in Gennady and look forward to making an official announcement at the appropriate time,” concluded Loeffler.
