Talks have started and are on going for a fight between undefeated super bantamweight Guillermo Rigondeaux (15-0, 10 KO's) and WBO featherweight champion Vasyl Lomachenko (4-1, 2 KO's). Both fighters are not only considered two of the best fighters in their divisions but two of the best fighters in the world today. Rigondeaux is the top 5 on many pound for pound lists. Both fighters were also considered the best amateur fighters in the world before they became professional. Lomachenko had an astonishing amateur record of 396-1 while Rigondeaux had a record of 374-12. They are two of the best amateur records to ever exist.
Gary Hyde, Rigondeaux's manager, said that talks have reached the next level.
"Had a very productive conversation with Lomachenko's manager regarding the super fight between Rigo-Loma. It's gone to the next level." Hyde stated on Twitter.
The fight has been agreed upon for a 126 weight limit with Lomachenko's agreeing to a 134 rehydration clause the following day. Because Ridondeaux is a very small 122 lbs fighter his side was worried that Lomachenko would come in plus 140 the following night.
If the fight is made this would be a great treat for die hard boxing fans around the world. While both names are unknown to the general public, anyone that follows the sport knows that this fight would be the fight to determine who the best fighter in the world is between 122-130.
