Following his victory Saturday night at Madison Square Garden in front of a 20,000 plus crowd, middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin had this to say:
"I feel great, it was a great fight. I felt his power, but I was strong tonight
and my punches hurt him. He is a great champion and I'm glad to beat him."
"I want all the belts, now I have two. The winner of Cotto/Canelo for sure. I'm not sure who will win that fight, but I want to fight the winner next. I'm staying at 160 until I have all the belts."
Golovkin battered Daivd Lemieux over eight rounds to score a TKO victory. His promoter said they will wait to till after November 21st to start planning their next move. The hope is that the winner of Cotto-Canelo will step up to fight Golovkin.
