Ruslan Provodnikov faces Rodriguez Nov 7th

Ruslan Provodnikov (24-4, 17 KOs) will take on unbeaten Jesus Alvarez Rodriguez (13-0, 10 KOs) November 7th @ Salle des Etoiles Monte Carlo, Monaco. No american TV coverage announced at this time, the fight will air live on Germany SAT.1. This bout replaces the WBA championship fight between Juergen Braehmer and Tommy Oosthuizen after the German sustained a hand injury in training.

Provodnikov, has not had it easy in his last five fights. He took on top-level opposition: Tim Bradley jr, Mike Alvarado, Chris Algieri, Jose Luis Castillo and Lucas Matthysse. In his last fight against Matthysse, he lost by a close MD, scores: judges: Don Ackerman 114-114, Glenn Feldman 113-115, John McKaie 113-11. Provodnikov is known in the boxing industry as a brawl and has been in fight of the year contenders. His fight against Bradley in 2013 was named Fight of the Year by the Boxing Writers Association of America. More recently, his fight against Matthysse was another candidate for Fight of the Year.

Jesus Alvarez Rodriguez, 23 years old, unbeaten in 13 fights & coming off three straight knockouts all within three rounds. IN his last outing this past February he defeated Bryan Abraham by 3rd RD TKO. Rodriguez sports a 77% knockout ratio and started his boxing career in 2009 winning against Jose Loya. Not much else is known about Rodriguez as this is his first notable fight.

Additionally, Venezuelan Charlie Navarro’s (25-7, 20 KOs) will meet David Avanesyan (20-1-1, 10 KOs) of Russia for the WBA Interim welterweight belt.
