Takashi Miura (29-2-2, 22 KOs) will defend his WBC Super Featherweight title against Francisco Vargas (22-0-1, 16 KOs) in a 12-round bout. This is part of the televised undercard of Miguel Cotto vs Canelo Alvarez, Saturday, Nov. 21 on HBO PPV beginning at 9:00 p.m. ET/6:00 p.m. PT.
This will be Takashi Miur fifth defense of his title. Hailing from Tokyo, Japan, and unbeaten since 2011 scored several wins stopping Gamaliel Diaz to take the WBC title in 2013. In his last fight this past May he scored a 3RD TKO over Billy Dib. "Francisco Vargas has proved himself to be a tough competitor," said Miura. "But, I have repeatedly fought to keep my WBC title and on November 21, I will show American fans once again why I am a champion."
Francisco Vargas, part of the 2008 Mexican Olympic team turned pro in 2010. Since then he has had a few notable bout against Jerry Belmontes, Abner Cotto, Juan Manuel Lopez & Will Tomlinson. In his last fight he knocked out Will Tomlinson @ Freeman Coliseum, San Antonio, Texas, USA. Vargas sports a 70% knockout ratio and has fought 92 rounds since turing pro. "To add the WBC title to my NABF and WBO Intercontinental titles would be the ultimate victory and a great ending to 2015," said Vargas.
