WBC featherweight champion Gary Russell Jr. (26-1, 15 KOs) will defends his WBC World featherweight title against Oscar Escandón (24-2, 16 KOs) on November 14th @ the Hard Rock in Las Vegas, NV. The fight will be televised on Showtime boxing starting @ 10:45pm.
Russell Jr is coming of a victory over Johnny Gonzalez where he won the WBC featherweight championship, scoring a 4th RD TKO. Gonzalez was down once in round three and twice in round four. Russell only lost on his record is against Vasyl Lomachenko losing by a close MD, scores were: judges: Pat Russell 112-116, Lisa Giampa 114-114, Max DeLuca 112-116. "It's going to take all of my skills and my whole arsenal to defend my belt on November 14," said Russell Jr. "Escandon is a strong, durable fighter with a lot of power. I will have to be on my A-game and I believe I will be able to showcase my skills when I get in the ring."
Oscar Escandon, is 2 for 2 in his last four fights. He is coming off a split decision lost to Moises Flores, scores were: judges: Max DeLuca 112-116, Eddie Hernandez 112-116, Jack Reiss 115-113. His other lose was to Nehomar Cermeno, another close split decision. Escandon is a tough fighter with a 62% knockout ratio, this is not going to be an easy fight for Gary Russell Jr.
