The middleweight championship bout between Gennady Golovkin and David Lemieux drew in roughly 150,000 PPV buys according to K2 promoter Tom Loeffler. The fight was shown on HBO PPV live from Madison Square Garden Saturday night.
The number itself is not terrible considering that neither fighter has ever headlined a PPV card before. PPV and boxing regular television numbers have been low in general since the Mayweather-Pacquiao fight. It'll be interesting to see of the Cotto-Canelo fight can rejuvenate some viewers.
