Kovalev and Stevenson exchange more words

Light heavyweight champions Sergey Kovalev and Adonis Stevenson continued the war of words, or tweets, earlier today. Both fighters have been going back and forth all year claiming that the other fighter is ducking. Stevenson fired a shot at Kovalev's promoter, Main Events, for stating that Stevenson would have to fight the winner of Kovalev-Pascal II. The comment did not sit well with Stevenson.

"Who do Kathy Duva think she is by saying that the winner of me and Pascal have to fight @KrusherKovalev I am the champ and I am my own Boss." Stevenson tweeted. Shortly after Sergey Kovalev posted a video of him lightly tapping a piece of paper taped to a heavy bag calling Stevenson a "Paper champion." The continued the exchange for a little while bickering back and forth.

This has been an ongoing thing between Kovalev and Stevenson. Both fighters are recognized as the best fighters in the division. They were on there way to a showdown two years ago but Stevenson left HBO to join Al Haymon. The fight wasn't on the easy path to being made when both fighters were on HBO, so when Stevenson crossed over to Showtime, it became even harder. Now that Kovalev is contracted to HBO and Stevenson fights for the PBC it's nearly impossible to get the fight done at this point.
