Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor put on an entertaining show. In a very different type of Mayweather boxing he forced the fight and pressured McGregor. The result - Ref Robert Byrd stepped in to stop the fight 1:05 of round ten in a scheduled twelve-round super welterweight contest. Mayweather TKO over McGregor.
We saw a VERY different Mayweather tonight. He fought hard and pressed the action. Shockingly & confusing for MMA fans McGregor never really set down on his punches, looking weak and never really hurting Mayweather. McGregor won some rounds - even if Mayweather might have let him. Mayweather stayed patient and may have let the first couple of rounds go to figure out what was going on in the ring. Mayweather was going for the KO from the start but was very smart and calculated. Once he knew he had the fight and McGregor had nothing left, Mayweather went for the kill.
McGregor has a moment.. ONE.. in the 9th, McGregor turned the tables with a devastating body punch that looked to hurt Mayweather, badly. However the Mayweather shook it off and fought one. McGregor was not terrible, he showed a lot of heart and skill but just not enough to hang with someone like Mayweather.
Floyd Mayweather Jr. will retire a perfect 50-0 — Conor McGregor made him work for it. kinda.
Respect to both fighters for bringing boxing to the mainstream world.
