Floyd Mayweather knocks out Tenshin Nasukawa in one round, banks $9 million

To no one's surprise, Floyd Mayweather annihilated Japanese kickboxer Tenshin Nasukawa in the first round of their three-round welterweight exhibition bout on New Year's Eve at Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan, which is located about 12 miles north of Tokyo.

Mayweather, 41, a former five-division world champion, floored Nasukawa three times before Nasukawa's corner threw in the towel, leaving the 20-year-old in tears.

Nasukawa, who failed to land a meaningful punch and normally competes at 126-pounds, was dropped twice with left hooks before a short right hand planted him for the third and final time.

After making $9 million in two-and-a-half minutes, Mayweather insisted that he is still retired from the fight game.

"It was all about entertainment. We had fun," Mayweather said. "I'm still retired. I don't look forward to coming back to boxing. I did it just to entertain fans in Japan. I'm still retired, I'm still 50-0, and Nasukawa is still undefeated and a hell of a fighter."

In September, Mayweather announced that he was making a comeback to fight Manny Pacquiao in a rematch of their much-hyped 2015 bout, but apparently had a change of heart.

Pacquiao is defending his WBA "Regular" welterweight title on Jan. 19 against Adrien Broner at MGM Grand in Las Vegas and is still hopeful that he can land the rematch with Mayweather.

Since this was an exhibition bout with no judges, Mayweather will remain 50-0, a record he reached in Aug. 2017 when he stopped former UFC champion Conor McGregor in the 10th round of his most recent fight.
