Anthony Joshua is set to face Andy Ruiz Jr June 1st

Anthony Joshua was due to face Jarrell Miller at Madison Square Garden on June 1st. Jarrell Miller failed three drugs tests which cancelled Anthony Joshua bout. Jarrell Miller has recently been given a six-month ‘ban’ by the WBA. Now taking his place is Mexican-American heavyweight Andy Ruiz Jr. Ruiz Jr has had 33 professional bouts so far. Just one lost to Joseph Parker back in 2017 by a MD, Scores: Ramon Cerdan 115-113 | Salven Lagumbay 114-114 | Ingo Barrabas 115-113 . Interesting, Anthony Joshua defeated Joseph Parker in 2018 by a UD. He has an extensive amateur career (105-5.) including an Olympic qualification attempt in 2008.

Andy Ruiz Jr recently fought this past week on the Danny Garcia vs Adrian Granados card. He defeated Alexander Dimitrenko by a TKO in the 5th.

Ruiz jumped straight back into camp after two days off and is now training to face Anthony Joshua. Promoter Eddie Hearn says Ruiz will "do anything" to become world champion. "He will entertain you, give it his all. Even if it means getting sensationally knocked out, he will rather do that than not do it," Hearn told Fighthype.com.
