Police: Davis struck ex-girlfriend in the face following viral video

It turns out, Gervonta Davis was more than just aggressive.

The secondary lightweight titlist turned himself in to police after cell phone footage surfaced showing him choking a woman at a charity basketball game in Miami during Super Bowl weekend.

The victim is the mother of his child.

But authorities with the Coral Gables Police Department say new surveillance shows Davis striking the woman in the face, which left her with injuries to the lip and left jaw.

TMZ was first to report the story.

Davis denied hitting the woman on an Instagram story but admitted to being "aggressive."

"I never once hit her, yea I was aggressive and told her come on... that's the mother of my child I would never hurt her other than that happy New Years.. January was trash."

Since making that comment, both his Instagram and Twitter pages have been deactivated.

Davis was later charged with Simple Battery Domestic Violence and transported to Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center for processing.

An arraignment hearing is set for March 3rd.

Davis (23-0, 22 KO's), of Baltimore, won a secondary lightweight world title with a 12th-round knockout of former two-division titlist Yuriorkis Gamboa on Dec. 28 in Atlanta, Georgia.

Outside of the ring, Davis has had trouble with the law. Shortly after his victory over Gamboa, Davis was seen on cell phone footage in handcuffs in Los Angeles. The Los Angeles Police Department refused to comment on the matter. In September 2018, Davis was arrested for getting into a fistfight with a man outside of a Washington D.C. nightclub. The state of Maryland also dropped a misdemeanor second-degree assault charge against Davis. Furthermore, the 25-year-old had a misdemeanor assault charge dropped in October 2019 stemming from a physical altercation at an upscale mall in Virginia.
